Its predecessor was the Kong Miao (Confucian Temple), one of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Xiaoxian City," established during the Southern Song Dynasty in the fourth year of Shaoxi (1193). The museum serves as both a local comprehensive museum and a national Level 3 museum. In 1978, the Kong Miao underwent major renovations, and the Xiaoxian Museum was founded. The museum covers an area of 3,000 square meters, with a building area of 1,170 square meters.
